The experience of existence and non-existence has been altered as humans pass into death and emerge from birth in shared digital spaces. New Geographic 2 focused on this new way of existing – organic systems cross over into the digital landscape and then cross back into the atmosphere of a shared gallery space. What was physical becomes virtual and then what is virtual becomes physical in an interchange that blurs the boundaries of human experience.
New Geographic 2 was the collaborative effort of myself and Dan Romanoski. NG2 made use of projections and looping image – along with sound by the producer Cubby – to explore a life where the edges of physical and digital landscapes overlap. The show was displayed in Gallery 148 at Minneapolis College of Art and Design in February and March, 2016. Images 8-11 taken by Christopher Selleck.
